TSA agents in Los Angeles indicted on bribery, drug charges
Two former and two current Transportation Security Administration agents were indicted on federal bribery and drug trafficking charges. Their alleged activity was discovered in February when a suspected drug courier went to the wrong terminal and was arrested after a screener not involved in the scheme detected the drugs. The indictment describes five incidents of agents taking bribes in exchange for giving couriers access to checkpoints. “The allegations in this case describe a significant breakdown of the screening system through the conduct of individuals who placed greed above the nation’s security needs,” said U.S. Attorney Andre Birotte Jr. Los Angeles Times/The Canadian Press (tiered subscription model) (4/26)
