  • N.Y. airport gets new security scanner
New York’s Westchester County Airport this week will introduce a new security scanner capable of detecting metallic and nonmetallic items. The scanner displays a generic image of the traveler. “It doesn’t matter if you are 7 feet or 5-foot-2,” said Lisa Farbstein, public affairs manager for the TSA. “It doesn’t matter if you are male or female.” Norwalk Citizen (Conn.) • Passengers of today want airport of 2025 to rely on automation
The airport of the future will likely be a more automated, customer-centric place where passengers use mobile devices to streamline key parts of their journey, shows new research from Amadeus. The new findings in the report "Reinventing the Airport Ecosystem" come from a survey of global airline passengers that found that nearly three-quarters regard the process from check-in to boarding as inefficient. The report shows a hunger from travelers for greater automation for things such as permanent electronic bag-tagging, increased reliance on mobile applications throughout the process and the ability to provide real-time feedback to airlines.
