  • TSA expands pre-screening to United passengers at Chicago’s O’Hare
United Airlines travelers flying out of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport are now eligible for the Transportation Security Administration’s pre-screening program. Under the program, travelers who provide personal information and are approved to participate in the program no longer have to remove their shoes, belts or light outerwear at security checkpoints. The program began in October 2011, and more than 1.5 million people have participated since then. The program is currently available at 16 airports. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has introduced a bill of rights for air travelers, as well as a bill that would require private workers to replace the Transportation Security Administration. "While aviation security is undoubtedly important, we must be diligent in protecting the rights of all Americans, such as their freedom from being subjected to humiliating and intrusive searches by TSA agents, especially when there is no obvious cause," said Paul in a statement.
