  • Authorities arrest traveler who stole laptop at checkpoint
    Officials at New York’s LaGuardia International Airport arrested a man who stole a laptop at Florida’s Tampa International Airport. The man took a female traveler’s laptop that was placed in a bin at a security checkpoint. Surveillance footage recorded the incident, and officials obtained a detailed description of the man, who confessed to stealing the laptop.   • AMR will terminate leases on planes so it can buy them
    A judge has ruled that AMR Corp. can terminate leases on nine planes in order to buy them. The original lender, HNB Investment Corp., initially objected to the move, but it eventually dropped its complaint and reached an agreement with AMR. The move comes as AMR attempts to reduce costs after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November. AMR says it also plans to pursue a similar transaction on 10 additional planes.
